The new Hilo Naniloa Hotel is offering guests a free round at the nine-hole Naniloa Golf Course through Dec. 14.

The recently renamed Hilo Naniloa Hotel, formerly known as the Naniloa Volcanoes Resort, is a 383-room bayfront hotel on 72 acres along Hilo’s Banyan Drive. Operating as one of new owner Aqua Hospitality’s “Lite Hotels,” the Naniloa is about to remade into an “environmentally friendly, marine art-themed resort,” said an Aqua Hospitality release.

Naniloa Golf Course is a nine-hole course with driving range and putting green set beside Hilo Bay. Designed by Alexander Kahapea and built in 1970, the course is open daily. Course fees are $10 for nine holes, $9 for seniors 62 and older.

The “Free Round of Golf” for guests includes nine holes per person per stay when booking a Bay View room category or higher, and a set of golf clubs per person. An additional nine holes is $10 per person; carts rent for $10 for 9 holes and $15 for 18 holes. Cart and clubs are based on availability. Tee times are booked at check-in.

“The par 35 Naniloa Golf Course is a great amenity conveniently located across the street from the hotel,” said Elizabeth Churchill, senior vice president of sales and marketing, in an Aqua Hospitality release. “Adding a free round of golf is a way of giving back to kamaaina for their support over the years.”

Aqua Hospitality is a Hawaii-based management company founded in 2001.
