Big Island police are asking for the public’s help identifying a man observed at a feedlot in Hamakua last month around the time an all-terrain vehicle was stolen.

Sometime between 6 p.m. on Nov. 27 and 6:46 a.m. on Nov. 28, someone entered the property on a Paauilo cane-haul road, damaged a fence, forced open a storage barn and took the ATV.

The vehicle was described as a green 2002 Honda Foreman 500 ES with a front-mounted winch and basket. It had a crack on the left front fender.

A man with a flashlight was captured on surveillance video on Nov. 28 sometime after 4 a.m. He was wearing a ball cap, jacket, shorts and a backpack.

Anyone with information on the man’s identity or the location of the ATV is asked to call the police department at 935-3311.

Anonymous tipsters can call Crime Stoppers at 961-8300 in Hilo or 329-8181 in Kona.
