A fire of unknown origin destroyed a home in the Puna subdivision of Hawaiian Acres Friday morning.

Firefighters responding to a 10:47 a.m. alarm found the multi-story home fully engulfed in flames.

It took a crew of 15, including six volunteer firefighters, more than an hour to extinguish the blaze using water from the home’s water tank.

It was not immediately known whether the house located in a wooded area on Road 6, between roads C and D, was occupied.

Damage was estimated at $60,000.
