The state Department of Transportation (DOT) has announced that the Public Informational Meeting over  intersection improvements at Keaau-Pahoa Road and Old Government Road in Pahoa, Hawaii has been canceled.

A new date and location will be announced, to be held in January 2013. The Kea`au-Pahoa Roundabout, as the project is called, is intended to improve safety and traffic flow by changing the existing T-intersection into a single-lane modern roundabout.

The planned project also will include slope reinforcement, landscaping improvements, electrical conduits, street lights, and drainage improvements. ADA-compliant curb ramps, sidewalks, fencing, guardrails, signage and striping will also be installed.

Construction is estimated to last approximately12 months.
