High Waves Close Some West Hawaii Beaches

Kahalu`u, La`aloa and Hapuna were closed for a second day, and a high-surf advisory was in effect until 6 p.m. today for west-facing shores of the Big Island.

County lifeguards reported surf up to 15 feet in height was occurring today at Hapuna Beach where waves were washing up to the vegetation line.
