West Hawai’i Memorial Day ceremony sends prayers for peace

Dozens gathered Monday at the West Hawai’i Veterans Cemetery Monday for a Memorial Day ceremony.

Six new U.S. Army soldiers proudly took their oaths of enlistment on Feb. 23 at the Pana’ewa Stampede rodeo in front of family, friends and thousands of spectators amidst a downpour of rain.

Soldiers get taste of paniolo lifestyle at Ho‘ilina Ranch on Big Island

Headquartered in Kea‘au, the ranch has had an agreement since 2017 with Pōhakuloa Training Area on the Big Island that gives members of the U.S. Armed Forces training there an opportunity to gain insight and appreciation for Hawaiian culture, history and ranching traditions by visiting the ranch.

Military Convoy Between Kawaihae & Pōhakuloa, Nov. 7 & 9

The convoy will be escorted by marked vehicles with rotating amber lights and signs. Motorists are asked to be alert and drive with care around convoy vehicles.

Military to Convoy from Pōhakuloa to Kawaihae Friday, Nov. 3

Soldiers and Marines are scheduled to convoy from Kawaihae Docks to Pōhakuloa Training Area (PTA) Nov. 3. The convoys are scheduled to start at noon and finish by 3:30 p.m.
