64 cats, kittens captured at Queens’ Marketplace; relocated to Big Island homes

In reaction to a ban on feeding feral cats at Queensʻ Marketplace in Waikōloa Village in order to protect endanered nēnē, two local animal rescue organizations conducted a relocation project. They captured 64 felines and delivered them to homes across the Big Island — after being spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

Public unhappy with Hawai’i Police’s operation of Animal Control Services

Animal Control Services Director Regina Serrano said the agencyʻs mission is to protect public safety and deal with animal cruelty not population control.
