As part of a nationwide opioid settlement with pharmaceutical companies, the State of Hawaiʻi will receive $81.4 million over the next 18 years, with $489,000 allotted to the Big Island this year, and $110,000 in each of the subsequent years.

Hawaiʻi is set to receive $26 billion in opioid settlement funds as part of $78 million in nationwide settlements to resolve lawsuits against the three largest drug distributors and one of the largest drug manufacturers, Johnson and Johnson.
