Hawai‘i County managing director to retire at end of year
Lord has been with the County of Hawaiʻi for 15 years, serving the last three as managing director under Mayor Mitch Roth. Before serving as managing director, Mr. Lord was the business manager for the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney and a Vehicle License and Registration Division manager. Lord will relocate to the mainland to be closer to his immediate family and those needing his care.
Hawaiʻi County Council gives favorable recommendation to new sustainability office
A bill that would create a new cabinet-level Office of Sustainability, Climate, Equity and Resilience and a new chapter in Hawaiʻi County code to govern it is moving forward.
Step forward for proposed new animal control agency on Big Island
Animal Control is currently being run as a pilot project under the Hawai‘i Police Department, with a current annual budget of approximately $3.4 million.
