The planetary public display of affection between Venus and Jupiter — the third and fourth brightest objects in the sky, respectively, after the sun and full moon — is thanks to a unique conjunction of the twosome that will happen early this evening, just after sunset and close to the horizon.

The individual who posted a video of a large rock being thrown into Lake Waiau has contacted the DLNR and apologized for her actions, state officials confirmed.

State officials remind visitors to respect the surroundings of Lake Waiau after photos surfaced on social media of a woman throwing large rocks into the body of water, located in the Mauna Kea Ice Age Natural Area Reserve.

Dr. Licata will share insights from her research at Lake Waiau and will present “A Study of a Tropical Alpine Lake, Past and Present.”
