39th president of the United States was the first president to reach the age of 100 years old, the longest-lived president in the nation’s history and actually the first president to be born in a hospital. He died Sunday peacefully at his home in Plains, Ga., surrounded by his family.

The 98-year-old decided to spend his remaining time at home with his family instead of receiving additional medical intervention following a series of short hospital stays.

The 12-bed inpatient hospice facility in Hilo will take a tactical pause on all inpatient hospice care operations beginning on Nov. 18, 2022
