A lineup of performers, hula performances and Hawaiian arts and craft demonstrations will be announced in the weeks ahead.

Attendees of the Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park’s 39th annual Hawaiian Cultural Festival will enjoy Hawaiian music by Kenneth Makuakāne and Russell Mauga and experience traditional ‘oli (chant) and hula (dance) while learning a Hawaiian craft.

All events are free, but entrance fees may apply. Some programs are sponsored by Friends of Hawai‘i Volcanoes National Park and Hawai‘i Pacific Parks Association.

Pu‘uhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park will host its free annual Hawaiian Cultural Festival on June 29 and 30, 2019.

On Saturday and Sunday, June 23 and 24, 2018, Pu‘uhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park will host its annual free Hawaiian Cultural Festival.

Several thousand people enjoyed the annual event that celebrates and perpetuates authentic Hawaiian culture.

Visitors celebrated the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service at the 36th annual Hawaiian Cultural Festival & BioBlitz at Volcanoes National Park.

The cancellation of the Aug. 15 and 16 event precedes the impending storm and follows the closure of the historic site following a Kawaihae brush fire that burned the area over the weekend.

The festival features hula kāhiko and music, skilled practitioners demonstrating their arts, opportunities to try your own hand at Hawaiian crafts, and to taste traditional Hawaiian foods.

Canoe rides and cultural exhibits will be on tap at Pu`uhonua o Honaunau National Historic Park, also known as “City of Refuge.”
