Fewer Solar Permits Issued Statewide in 2019

Four of Hawaii’s counties showed an 11% drop in solar permits throughout the first half of the year, the President of Big Island-based ProVision Solar shared.

Residential Rooftop Solar Increases by 1% on Big Island

Residential rooftop solar systems installed across the Hawaiian Electric Companies’ service territory rose to 74,331 in 2018 from 70,607 in 2017, a 5.3% jump.

HPUC Expands PV Options for Customers

This program offers a new option for customers installing a rooftop PV system combined with a battery energy storage system. Under “Smart Export,” a customer’s energy storage system will recharge during the daytime with energy captured from their PV system.
