Hawaiʻi County 911 fire dispatchers having own crisis with severe shortage of workers
With only five of the Hawaiʻi County Fire Department’s 16 dispatch positions filled with working full-time employees, it is impossible to fill all 21 weekly 8-hour shifts with more than a lone dispatcher.
