Kamon Stephens, 43, of Mountain View, was arrested and charged with a litany of offenses following the execution of a narcotics search warrant at a residence in  Aloha Estates on March 29.

After conferring with the Hawai’i County prosecutor’s office Friday, detectives with the Hawai’i Police Department’s Area I Criminal Investigation Section charged 35-year-old Joseph Diego Soares with several offenses including first-degree reckless endangering, third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug and other firearms offenses.

The Hawaiʻi Police Department is currently involved in “police activity” in Aloha Estates on Mauna Loa Road in Glenwood.

Hawai’i Island police have arrested and charged 60-year-old Donald John Needham, of Pāhoa, with the 2020 shooting death of his neighbor in Aloha Estates.

Hawai‘i Island police identified the man shot to death at his residence in the Aloha Estates subdivision, Monday, April 26, as 59-year-old Jay Allen Freeman of Volcano.

Some Puna residents could face extended power outages after this weekend’s windy weather toppled trees and power lines.

Downed power poles and lines have been reported due to high winds. The Puna area has received the most impact from the wind damage.

Hawai’i Electric Light says that 900 customers are still without power across the island as crews work around the clock to restore power.
