UPDATE: High wind, winter weather warning issued for Big Island summits

Travel to the summits of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea should be postponed until high wind, winter weather subside by Sunday. Flood watch in effect for all of Hawaiʻi Island.

Hawaiʻi Life Flight releases names of 2 of the 3 crew members in apparent helicopter crash

This morning, Hawaii Life Flight posted on its social media the names of two of the three crew members who went missing after their medical transport aircraft apparently crashed on Dec. 15 in waters off the ʻAlenuihāhā Channel between Maui and the Big Island.

At Old Kona Airport Beach Park, a flight nurse, a paramedic and a pilot were mourned during a sunset vigil.

Coast Guard searching for missing medical transport aircraft in ʻAlenuihāhā Channel

According to the U.S. Coast Guard, the missing aircraft is a Hawai’i Life Flight King Air twin-engine propeller plane that had three crew members aboard.
