Staggering Spike in COVID Cases Statewide
The Hawaiʻi Department of Health reported 797 new COVID-19 cases Friday, bringing the statewide total to 91,067. Two new COVID-related fatalities were reported.
A total of 29 new infections were identified on the Big Island. On Thursday, the Department of Health reported 196 active cases, and 4 persons hospitalized.
The state’s daily case average is now 297, with a test positivity rate of 4.2%. A map documenting new cases by district throughout all islands can be accessed at the DOH website.

A total of 5,152 individuals have been hospitalized as a result of COVID-19 infection since the pandemic began, while at least 1,067 have died.
