Wings (1927) is a landmark silent film directed by William A. Wellman. It is an epic World War I action-romance that won the very first Academy Award for Best Picture. The story follows two young men from the same hometown—one rich, one middle-class—who become fighter pilots. Their strong bond is tested by the horrors of war and a bitter romantic rivalry over the same woman
Wings is presented accompanied by a live score performed on the Mighty Palace Pipe Organ by organist Walter Greenwood. Silent Movie Nights are fundraising events to raise money for the ongoing maintenance of the historic Robert Morton Pipe Organ.
