Waimea Arts Council is pleased to present “Abstraction and Distraction” at Firehouse Gallery. Abandoning realistic objective depiction, Big Island artists will display artwork emphasizing colors, shapes, lines, and textures allowing for free, unfettered artistic expression. The exhibition will run from March 1 through March 31, 2024.
“What goes on in abstract art is the proclaiming of aesthetic principles... It is in our own time that we have become aware of pure aesthetic considerations. Art never can be imitation.” - Hans Hofmann
