Some 50+ lucky ducks are going to go home with great prizes on Tuesday, July 4, when the Great Waikōloa Rubber Duckie Race takes off across Kings’ Lake at the Kings' Shops in Waikōloa.
The spec-quackular benefit for the United Cerebral Palsy Association of Hawai‘i is one of Kings’ Shops most exciting events, as a big crowd of visitors and residents come to watch thousands of the bright yellow waterfowl bobble, waddle and drift toward the finish line.
And because duckie derby day is more than just a race, Kings’ Shops presents a full schedule of family-friendly Fourth of July activities throughout the open air mall. These include a watermelon eating contest at A-Bay’s Island Grill, a shave ice contest at the Original Big Island Shave Ice Company, music by Johnny Shot Band and plenty of special offers.
After the race at 3 p.m., more contests will challenge the brave to hunt for, quack like and waddle like a duck — all for fun prizes and bragging rights.
Ducks can be adopted online in advance (strongly encouraged) for $5 each or in a Quack Pack of five duck adoption certificates and a free Duckie T-shirt. For $100, duck-adopters make the Hall of Fame, receive 40 adoption certificates and get a free Duckie T-shirt.
So don’t duck this opportunity to win something and give something back too. Click here to adopt your duckie today!
