The Hawaii Japanese Center is pleased to announce that its popular “Musical Nostalgia” karaoke concert will be held on Saturday, October 4, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Aunty Sally’s Luau Hale in Hilo. Now entering its 19th year, Musical Nostalgia has developed a reputation for featuring some of the Big Island’s most talented karaoke singers performing a variety of Japanese and American numbers.

This year’s lineup will spotlight two all-female vocal groups. Featured will be the acapella stylings of No Divas, comprised of Keiko Formanek, Joanne Pocsidio, Susan Wacherbarth, and Teresa Mondoy. Also creating a buzz around town is the five-member female group known as Gonin Musume. The quintet is comprised of well-known women leaders in the community, including Mineko Todd, Misae Moro, Aya Shehata, Reiko Hamano and Noriko Roth.

Proceeds from the sale of tickets benefit the Hawaii Japanese Center, a non-profit (501)(c)(3) organization whose mission is to preserve and perpetuate the history and legacy of Hawaii’s immigrant forebears.

Tickets for Musical Nostalgia are $20 in advance, $25 at the door.
