East Hawaii Cacao Association will host a 2 day Annual Hilo Cacao & Chocolate Expo to enhance and promote Hawaii Island's reputation for chocolate excellence as, well as increase interest in growing cacao and agritourism April 13-14.
The first day is free. Demos and displays will show the the chocolate making process from bean to bar. Local merchants will have their 100% grown cacao and chocolate to taste and purchase. Representatives from educational agricultural organizations will be available with literature. Weather permitting up to 100 Expo attendees will receive a complimentary tour of a chocolate farm on a first come first served basis. Expo attendees will receive a cacao seed to pot and take home.
A Silent Auction, T-Shirts and totes will be available for purchases. All proceeds will go towards furthering the education and promotion of growing cacao. The Expo's 2nd day will be a workshop format held 8:30sm -4:00pm for those wishing more detailed information about cacao and chocolate processing and production. Thanks to our sponsors and a grant from Hawai’i County Department of Research and Development we are able to offer this workshop for a small fee of $22.
