The 12 athletes match the highest total for the University of Hawaiʻi in any Olympics, as the university also sent 12 athletes to the games in 2000.

Separate divisions are offered for keiki 5 to 12 years old, teens, men, women, kūpuna at least 55 years old and ‘ohana. There also will be an art contest and invasive species division in which all entrants are automatically entered. This year’s tournament is Aug. 16-18.

Hosted by the Hawai‘i County Department of Parks and Recreation’s Elderly Activities Division, this year’s 2-day tournament at the Walter C. Victor Baseball Complex in Hilo hosts 21 teams and more than 400 players from around the Big Island.
