Three teenagers from the Big Island participated in the pro/am tournament, with all of them having aspirations to one day play professionally.

The I Heart Youth Theatre program is a ten-week, tuition-free musical theater arts program for youth, with classes, workshops and rehearsals that lead up to a full-scale production of Disney’s classic musical, “The Little Mermaid.”

Available positions are activity aide I, which is paid $17.50 per hour, and activity aide II, paid at an hour rate of $19. Completed applications must be submitted to the Recreation Division or postmarked by Feb. 28.

The yearlong campaign celebrates where we live, learn and play. It’s aimed at increasing awareness of community — and urban — forests while strengthening connections between people and these forests.

Curtis Mamone Jr. faces two charges of felony abuse; one charge of third-degree promoting a dangerous drug, specifically methamphetamine; and one charge of second-degree escape after the Jan. 6 domestic incident.

“We are already seeing increased cases of pertussis and are at risk for a measles outbreak,” said State Health Director Dr. Kenneth Fink. “Immunizations are necessary to protect infants, children and adults from potentially serious and contagious diseases.”
