Nathan Kalani Ni‘ihau was arrested Jan. 3 after he was found sleeping in a pickup truck owned by the state of Hawai‘i that was reported stolen in a burglary Dec. 27, 2022, in Hilo.

On June 30, 2009, a friend found Kaycee Smith dead in her Orchidland home on the Big Island with a single gunshot wound to her head.
