The Hilo club’s “Pay It Forward” program is aimed at helping women entrepreneurs on Hawai‘i Island start a new business or expand an existing business. Six winners were awarded this year.

A total of 150 community-led projects reach more than 7,000 people with acts of aloha as people came together around the Big Island, opened their doors and shared what they have to care for the places they love.

“What we witnessed here is the strength, resilience and unity of our lāhui — a clear sign that our future is in good hands,” said Office of Hawaiian Affairs Board of Trustees Chairman Kaialiʻi “Kai” Kahele.

“Nowadays, there is so much in the news and on social media concerning polarization and the lack of civil conversations,” said Mediator and retired professor Jo Hittner, who will present the workshop, “but that doesn’t mean we are powerless against this divisive trend.”
