Art Gallery Event Aids Humane Society
A Hilo art gallery benefit could enrich your life through art — or a new pet.
The 3rd annual “Art Helps” sale to benefit the Hawaii Island Humane Society will be held on Saturday, Nov. 30 at the High Fire Hawaii Gallery & Studio, which is donating a portion of its proceeds from every sale to the HIHS.
All Gallery items including studio ceramics, jewelry, framed original artwork and prints by local artists will result in up to 50% of the proceeds going to help the Humane Society, said Gallery owner Shannon Hickey.
In addition, pets from the Hawaii Island Humane Society — spayed/neutered and ready to take home — will be available for on-site adoption from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Hickey said four pets were adopted at last year’s event which raised more than $1,000.
Hickey, who owns three dogs and three cats, said all of the gallery’s 30 artists are participating. “We all love animals,” she said.
“I’ve always been a big supporter of the Humane Society.”
The Gallery, open 9-5 p.m., is located at 114 Kamehameha Ave. Call 935-8380, or visit www.highfirehawaii.com for information.
