BLOG: Tribune-Herald Editor to Replace Retiring Publisher

More changes are underway at the Hawaii Tribune-Herald in Hilo.

Big Island Now has learned that publisher Ted Dixon will retire as of Dec. 1.

Editor David Bock will be taking over as publisher.

Dixon replaced longtime publisher Jim Wilson in 2003. He has been a publisher with Tribune-Herald owner Stephens Media and its predecessor, Donrey Media, since 1991.

Bock joined the Tribune-Herald in 1996 as news editor, and moved to the editor’s desk in 2001 with the retirement of Gene Tao.

Las Vegas-based Stephens Media also owns the Kona daily newspaper West Hawaii Today and weekly Big Island publications North Hawaii News and Big Island Weekly.

In April, Bock became news director for all of the island’s Stephens publications following the elimination of the editor position at West Hawaii Today.
