Dueling Elvises Take the Stage in Waimea

Elvis-lovers will be seeing double in the Waimea Community Theater’s spring production of  “Four Weddings and an Elvis,” which is taking a bow for its final weekend at the historic Parker School Theater.

The romantic comedy written by Nancy Frick is being directed for the Waimea Community Theater by B. Lee Drew.

Following the misadventures of Vegas wedding planner and chapel owner Sandy, the story features a plethora of comical misfits ranging from serial spouses to erratic Elvis impersonators.

Andy Kunellis plays Sandy, the Master of Wedding Ceremonies, while Bill Cruise and Dylan Brennan play rival Elvises.

A host of local talent was cast to play the many oddball roles, including Jada Rufo as Fiona the tattooed ex-con, and John Sucke as Bryce, a fading B-list star determined to revive his flat-lining career.

Amidst the comedic chaos and in spite of the characters motivations, some find unexpected resolutions at Sandy’s Wedding Chapel.

The play enters its final weekend May 24-26, with Friday and Saturday curtain times at 7:30 p.m., and a Sunday matinee beginning at 3 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased from Waimea General Store or at the box office and range from $10 for children to $15 for adults. Discounts are available for seniors, military personnel and students.
