Love on Da Rock

Said Ashton Kutcher, actor and former boy-toy of actress Demi Moore. Still, it’s V-Day. The commercial day of pink hearts, sparkly things, flowers, and toothache inducing sweetness.

Or, not. Either way, here are a few activities for those that are in love/lust, the friend zone, or say “it’s complicated,” on their relationship status.

Heat Things Up in Volcano

Guitar guy, Brandon Shannon brings his Jazz trio to the Volcano Art Center’s Niaulani Campus to put couples in the mood, and singles a swaying. A comedic skit on love will be performed by Angie and Tanya. Just $5 grants you entry this February 14, at 7 p.m.

Tasty Bits

So, it’s the middle of your Thursday and busy schedules conspire to keep you two lovebirds in limbo until the weekend. Make a mid-day date to meet at Island Naturals in Kona to tease the tongue with Rangpur limes and flour-less chocolate cake from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Funny Friday

Humor is definitely one of the sexier and rarer traits to be found about these days.

At the University of Hawai’i at Hilo’s Campus Center dining room, Mel Cabang, Bu’la’ia, Da Braddahs, Puna Princess and musician Lito Arkangel will perform to please you.

Nothing like laughter to keep love a-flowing and friendships a-going. Tickets are $5, at doors that open at 7:30 p.m.

More Watching, Less Talking

If conversation is a little “meh,” let entertainment fill the empty space left by lackluster verbal skills. Just a guess; perhaps your partner has more hair than wit?

The wizard can fix it! So thought some little people, a girl from Kansas, a straw man, a brain-less mass of tin and a cowardly lion.

Throw in a little dog named Toto, and your few conversation free hours will fly at the Aloha Theatre in Kona.

Tickets are $25 general. Show starts at 7:30 p.m. Runs through March 10, with Friday and Saturday evening shows. Sunday’s matinee begins at 2:30 p.m.

Sapphic Love Goes Sci-Fi

Root for true love in this music laden, Science-Fiction animated flick from longtime Big Islander, writer, director, producer, lecturer, G.B. Hajim. Strange Frame: Love and Sax screens at the Palace Theater on Friday night at 7 p.m.

Get lost in the future as one woman takes on the galaxy to rescue her girlfriend. Tickets are $8 at the Palace Theater.
