Grant Writing and Fundraising Classes Offered

A variety of business classes geared toward non-profit organizations will be offered over the next few months in Hamakua and Waikoloa through UH-Hilo’s Spring 2013 Lifelong Learning classes.

A “Basic Grant Writing” class will be held Saturday, April 13, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., at the Waikoloa Village Association community room.

Taught by Jeani Navarro, who has over 30 years of grant writing experience, the course will teach participants about the grant writing process, how to write a compelling statement of need, and what funders look for in proposals.

Fee for the class is $50 plus $5 materials fee.

Navarro will also teach two new workshops in Honoka‘a at UH-Hilo’s North Hawai‘i Education and Research Center.

“Fundraising for Non-Profits” will be held Saturday, April 27, from 9 a.m. –11 a.m and costs $25 plus $5 materials fee.

The class will teach students how to identify and pursue alternative sources of funding.

“Board Development for Non-Profits”, which will focus on creating a highly effective board of directors, will be held Saturday, April 27, from 12 p.m. –2 p.m. Class fee is $25 plus $5 materials fee.

Advanced registration is required for all classes as space is limited.
