Not Just Another Dance Company

When someone asks you to go with them to a “dance thing,” what’s the first thing you do?

Politely demur? Go with a knee-jerk reaction and state, “hell no?”  If you immediately think of boredom and leotards, try again.

Imagine a flaming redhead with curly locks, ripped tights, ties, shirtless men and more. Watch transfixed as they move fluidly across the stage to beats that fill the space with crackling energy.

Keigwin + Company will stop by the University of Hawai’i at Hilo’s Performing Arts Center on January 21, for a night of highly stylized movement and music.

UHH PAC Theatre Manager, Lee Dombroski is looking forward to this exciting performance.

“K+C lives to create provocative, witty and engaging dances. Utilizing a collaborative process that combines physicality with theatricality, art is fused with entertainment,” she said.

Founder and Artistic Director, Larry Keigwin, choreographs visually compelling pieces that engages the audience and plays with their senses. Keigwin has very diverse credentials, which attest to his edgy yet accessible creativity.

His commissioned works include work for the Guggenheim, The Julliard School. He also conceived of a ballet for the Royal New Zealand Ballet, opened Fashion Week in NYC with “Fashions Night Out,” and worked with the band Fischerspooner among other projects.

Tickets are $25 general, $20 discounted, and $12 for students and those aged 17 and younger. This is a reserved seating event.
