King Kamehameha Parade in Kona
This is the weekend for great men. King Kamehameha Day was officially June 11. However, celebrations continue for this monarch who united the Hawaiian islands under one rule.
On Saturday June 16, at 9 a.m., the King Kamehameha Parade travels down Ali’i Drive with Pa’u Riders, hula halau, marching bands and more.
Food and craft booths will line the picturesque street and a party or, ho’olaulea will commence at 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the King Kamehameha Hotel Courtyard. This event is free.
Jeff Peterson in Concert
On Saturday June 16, at 7 p.m., join Maui born slack key musician Jeff Peterson for an evening concert at the Volcano Art Center’s Niaulani Campus.
This Na Hoku Hanohano Award winner and Grammy Award winner will perform, talk-story, and share his passion of music with a select crowd of 100 people at this intimate venue.
Tickets are $27 general and are available through the www.volcanoartcenter.org website. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Ebb and Flow at East Hawai’i Cultural Center
Hilo’s cultural center will go with the flow on Saturday night, June 16. Film, art, music, dance, tarot, and image projection combine to form a unique night with a myriad of stimuli.
Participate in and observe a multimedia sensory experience at the EHCC. Artist and educator, Lee Walczuk and friends will delight onlookers with their works. The night begins at 7:30 p.m.

Father’s Day Brunch at Mauna Kea Beach Hotel
For the man who likes to eat, the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel on the Kohala Coast offers a scrumptiously good time on Sunday June 17.
The Manta and Pavillion Wine Bar will be where this gorge fest takes place. Goodies expected on this Father’s Day menu include a desserts, pastries, omelet and waffle station. Assorted dim sum, poke, sushi and sashimi will be artfully arranged on platters.
A selection of charcuterie, prime rib, crab claws, shrimp, keahole lobster bisque, herb chicken, Portugese rice stuffing, bacon, Eggs Benedict, tempura, and more will entice patrons to eat until buttons on pants go pop.
