A flood watch has been issued across the main Hawaiian Islands for the next few days as a trough moving over the state is anticipated to bring abundant tropical moisture.

According to the National Weather Service in Honolulu, that moisture is expected to remain nearly stationary for a few days, with the watch in place until Thursday, Oct. 29. The heavy showers may develop Tuesday morning, bringing intense rain rates.

The National Weather Service reports this weather is ancitipated to continue through Wednesday evening as the trough moves over the state.

Heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms are possible, potentially leading to flooding across all islands.

Flood prone roads and other low lying areas may be closed due to elevated runoff and overflowing streams. Urban areas may receive more significant flooding and property damage due to rapid runoff.
