Public advised about possible increased noise during military aircraft training

Various military aircraft training to and from Pōhakuloa Training Area is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. today (Aug. 12) on the Big Island.

The public is advised that, depending on weather, jet engine and aircraft noise could be increased during the day and throughout several locations including:

  • Pōhakuloa Training Area.
  • Keʻāmuku Maneuver Area.
  • Waikiʻi Ranch.
  • Waimea.
  • Parker Ranch.
  • Ellison Onizuka Kona International Airport.
  • Waikōloa

“Our commitment to the surrounding community is of the utmost priority,” said U.S. Army Garrison Hawaiʻi in an announcement about the training and noise. “We appreciate the understanding and continued support of the Hawaiʻi Island community.”

Concerns are responded to during regular business hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
