Summer youth camps, clinics upcoming at University of Hawai‘i at Hilo

University of Hawai‘i at Hilo coaches are hosting several upcoming summer youth camps and clinics for soccer, basketball and volleyball.

Men’s soccer

Hosted by the Vulcans men’s soccer coaching staff and features speed, agility and quickness drills; ball manipulation; technical instruction; tactical instruction; and small-sided games. Includes camp T-shirt.

Youth Soccer Camp

  • When: July 29 through Aug. 1
  • Location: Vulcan Soccer Field, University of Hawai‘i at Hilo campus, 200 W. Kāwili St.
  • Open to boys and girls:
    • 10 to 11 a.m.: Ages 4 to 6 years old; $80.
    • 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Ages 7 to 9 years old; $180.
    • 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.: Ages 10 to 13 years old; $180.
  • Group discount: Register five or more campers in the same transaction and receive $10 off each.

Men’s Soccer College ID Camp

  • When: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 8
  • Location: Vulcan Soccer Field
  • Open to: Boys and men in grades 9-12, junior college and transfer portal
  • Cost: $120

Walk-up registration accepted, but advanced registration preferred.

Basketball

Hosted by the Vulcans men’s and women’s basketball coaching staffs along with other community members. Four days of skill development, contests and games for all skill levels. Campers will learn fundamentals while developing confidence, teamwork and a love for basketball. Includes lunch, basketball, T-shirt and camp photo.

Vulcan Basketball Camp

  • When: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 20-23
  • Location: Pana‘ewa Park Gym, 100 ʻOhuʻohu St.
  • Open to: Boys and girls in grades 3-12
  • Cost: $150

This camp is hosted in tribute to late Coach Jimmy Yagi. Vulcans men’s head coach Kaniela Aiona and women’s head coach David Kaneshiro grew up attending the Coach Jimmy Yagi Basketball Camp. Yagi’s passions for teaching the game, developing young people and instilling lifelong values left a lasting impact on generations of players.

Volleyball

Elite All-Skills Volleyball Camp

  • When: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 1-2
  • Location: Vulcan Gymnasium, University of Hawai‘i at Hilo campus, 200 W. Kāwili St.
  • Open to: Boys and girls ages 13 to 18 years old
  • Cost: $150
  • Includes: T-shirt and lunch

All-Skills Volleyball Camp

  • When: 9 a.m. to noon Aug. 8
  • Location: Vulcan Gymnasium
  • Open to: Boys and girls ages 11 to 14 years old
  • Cost: $50

Volleyball Camp

  • When: 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 8
  • Location: Vulcan Gymnasium
  • Open to: Boys and girls ages 8 to 12 years old
  • Cost: $50

Limited spaces available for each camp. Register by July 15.
