2 face charges in connection with alleged sexual assault, robbery, affray at Kailua-Kona Pier
A 23-year-old man from Kailua-Kona and a juvenile male each face several charges in connection with an incident June 1 at the Kailua-Kona Pier involving an alleged sexual assault, fight with a knife and theft of a backpack.

Kona Patrol officers responded at 10:58 p.m. Monday to an altercation at the pier. A man and a woman said they were sleeping on the pier when an adult man, later identified as Arley Alokoa, and juvenile male attacked them.
The woman reported waking up to the adult suspect having sexual contact with her without consent. The man said a fight started and the two suspects assaulted him before forcing him into the ocean.
Investigators determined the adult suspect used a knife to injure the man. Police later learned the knife might have been taken from the victims’ backpack.
Police said the suspects stole the backpack after the fight before fleeing in a vehicle thought to be driven by a third person.
Officers located two people matching descriptions of the suspects in the parking lot of a business located in the 75-900 block of Henry Street. Police identified Alokoa as the adult suspect. A juvenile male was also identified as the second suspect.
Alokoa and the juvenile were arrested at 11:43 p.m. Monday. Officers recovered from Alokoa a knife matching the description provided by the man involved in the reported pier assault.
On Wednesday, Alokoa was charged with second-degree sexual assault, first-degree robbery, second-degree assault, third-degree assault and fourth-degree theft. His total bail was set at $61,500.
The juvenile suspect — who police were able to identify but is not being named because of his age — was charged Tuesday with first-degree robbery, second-degree assault and fourth-degree theft.
He was transported to Family Court for his initial court appearance.
Police continue to investigate the incident that led to the charges against both suspects.
