Authorities announced that a temporary closure of a section of Kawaihae Road has been scheduled on Friday as investigators continue to examine a recent fatal collision that occurred in the area.

The closure is scheduled from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Highway 19 between the 65 and 66 mile markers. Police said the shutdown is necessary to allow investigators to complete a forensic diagram and conduct a follow-up investigation tied to a collision.

Motorists traveling through the area should expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes. Officers will remain on scene to direct traffic and assist with safety during the closure.
