Scholarships available for Hawai’i County students pursuing health care careers

The Queen’s North Hawai’i Community Hospital announced it is offering several scholarship opportunities for students on Hawai’i Island pursuing careers in health care and higher education.
The hospital noted that among the available awards is the Peggy Dineen-Orsini Scholarships, which provides $2,000 to a Hawai’i County resident enrolled in or accepted into a National League of Nursing-accredited program either on the island or mainland.
The scholarship was established through private donations in memory of Peggy Dineen-Orsini, a registered nurse who worked at Queen’s North Hawai’i Community Hospital from 1996 to 2004.
Hospital officials said she is remembered for her compassion toward patients, coworkers, and friends.
The hospital’s medical staff also is offering two $1,000 scholarships for island residents currently enrolled in programs leading to degrees in health care.
Applicants must demonstrate financial needs to qualify.
Additionally, the Hawai’i Emergency Physicians Associated is sponsoring a $3,000 scholarship for any graduating high school senior from Hawai’i County who demonstrates financial need and would otherwise lack the opportunity to attend college without assistance.
To be considered, completed applications and all required documents must be received or postmarked by June 15, 2026. Students interested in further information can click here for applications and instructions.
