Recent rainfall in South Kohala has allowed the Hawai‘i County Department of Water Supply to downgrade its water restriction notice to customers in the area.

Customers from Āhualoa to Waiemi subdivision, including Waimea town, are being asked to reduce water use by at least 10%, down from 25%. All affected areas include Honokaia, Pu‘ukapu, Nienie, Lālāmilo Farm Lots, portions of Mana Road, portions of Māmalahoa Highway, Anekona Estates and Kānehoa subdivision.

According to the county, recent rainfall has filled Waikōloa reservoirs to a satisfactory level, however, the Waimea well is under repair and remains offline.

Continued water conservation is necessary to ensure all affected customers have an adequate supply of water.
