Small businesses interested in working with government invited to attend free workshops

Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation and U.S. Small Business Administration invite small business owners interested in working with the federal, state and local governments to register for a free workshop at one of six locations throughout the state.

All workshops are from 9 a.m. to noon. They begin Feb. 24 at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport Conference Center — located at 300 Rodgers Boulevard, Terminal 1, seventh floor — in Honolulu.

Check-in begins at 8:45 a.m.

Neighbor island classes

  • March 4: Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaiʻi Authority, 73-987 Makako Bay Drive, Kailua-Kona.
  • March 12: University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo, Rose and Raymond Tseng Terrace, 200 W. Kāwili St., Hilo.
  • April 1: Kauaʻi District Highways office, 1720 Haleukana St., Puhi.
  • April 7: Maui Economic Development Board Malcolm Center, 1305 N. Holopono St., Suite 15, Kihei.
  • April 15: Daniel K. Inouye International Airport Conference Center, 300 Rodgers Boulevard, Terminal 1, seventh floor, Honolulu.

The series will cover a broad range of topics, including:

  • Lending options to finance your goals.
  • Becoming a certified Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise, and/or Small Business Enterprise*.
  • Where to find State contracting information.

*This class includes a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise/Airport Concessions Disadvantaged Business Enterprise/Small Business Enterprise application workshop. The Disadvantaged Business Enterprise team will walk participants through preparing electronic documents to apply to the program.
