Police charge Canadian visitor with sexual assault of minor

Hawaiʻi Island police have arrested and charged a 21-year-old man from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, with first-degree sexual assault in connection with the reported assault of a female minor in West Hawaiʻi.

Einreb John Pasuquin Dizon was arrested on Saturday, Nov. 1, by detectives from the Area II Juvenile Aid Section following an investigation initiated by South Kohala patrol officers.

The investigation revealed that the fourteen year-old minor first met Dizon on Roblox, an online game platform, before Dizon traveled to Hawaiʻi from Canada.

According to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, Dizon met with the minor on several occasions at an Airbnb located in Waikōloa. He has been charged in relation to the sexual assault of a minor for an incident that occurred between Oct. 23 and Oct. 31.

After conferring with the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, detectives charged Dizon on Sunday, Nov. 2, with first-degree sexual assault, a Class A felony. His bail was set at $250,000, and he made his initial court appearance on Monday, Nov. 3, in Kona District Court.

Dizon will appear for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 5. On Monday afternoon, he was indicted on a single count of sexual assault in the first degree by a Kona grand jury.

Dizon’s arraignment in Kona Circuit Court has not yet been scheduled.

The felony investigation was led by Hawaiʻi Police Department Detective John Kari, Area II Juvenile Aid Section and the case is being prosecuted by Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Annaliese Wolf.

Due to the sensitive nature of the case and the age of the victim, no additional details will be released to protect the juvenile’s privacy and well-being.

The Hawaiʻi Police Department reminds parents and guardians to remain vigilant about their children’s online activity and to discuss internet safety, particularly regarding online gaming and social media platforms where predators may attempt to contact minors.
