Update: Power outage resolved at Port of Kawaihae in West Hawai‘i

Update at 5:25 p.m. Oct. 24, 2025: The power outage at Port of Kawaihae has been resolved, Young Brothers reported shortly before 5 p.m. in an email update to customers.

Power is fully restored and all email and phone lines are again online. The port will operate normal gate hours Oct. 27.

“Mahalo for your patience and understanding,” said the shipping company in its afternoon update.

Original post at 3:12 p.m. Oct. 24, 2025: Young Brothers continues to experience a power outage at Port of Kawaihae on the west side of the Big Island that is disrupting the shipping company’s telephone and internet network.

“Customers may experience a delay in email and telephone response,” said Young Brothers in announcing the outage. “Our service provider, Hawai‘i Electric Light, is currently working on a resolution.”

The port will operate under normal gate hours. There are no changes to the acceptance or pickup of cargo.

“We ask for your patience, as there may be delays while checking in cargo as we work to restore power,” Young Brothers said.
