Big Island keiki learn about water conservation through creative competition
Young artists can showcase their creativity and knowlege with the 7th annual Keiki Water Conservation Poster Contest from the County of Hawaiʻi Department of Water Supply.
Hawai‘i Island kindergarteners through sixth graders are encouraged to create original
artwork with the theme of, “Being Water Wise is…,” illustrating how using water wisely can help conserve our most precious resource.
“The Keiki Water Conservation Poster Contest is an opportunity for our youth to demonstrate
their creativity and learn about the importance of protecting our water resources,” said Mayor Kimo Alameda. “Conservation requires all of us, and we look forward to celebrating their artistic skills and learning how we can all be more water wise as families and communities.”
Entries will be judged based on creativity, inspiration, and originality and must be submitted by Friday, March 14, 2025. The Department of Water Supply has water conservation educational resources available on its website.
“Each year we look forward to the creative and beautiful work by our island youth and are
always amazed at their ability to connect their artistic talents with the importance of water as a vital resource,” said Manager-Chief Engineer Keith Okamoto. “Mahalo for your participation!”
