Hawaiʻi Police Department has new home on the internet
Hawai‘i Police Department has a new home — and a new fresh look — on the internet.
The department launched a redesigned website Nov. 12 after a year in the making. It’s the first time since 2011 that the site has been updated.
“We are extremely excited to launch this new website and provide an easy-use-use and helpful resource to community members,” said Police Chief Benjamin Moszkowicz.
The public can find a lot of new and useful information as well as community resources on the website, which is also mobile-friendly, making it easy to use across devices — no matter if you’re on your smartphone, tablet or laptop.
One of the most exciting new features is the Crime Map, provided by City Protect.
The Crime Map allows anyone from the public at any time to see what crimes happened in their neighborhood during a time period they choose.
The new website also features:
- An events page of police outreach efforts.
- A frequently asked questions page.
- History of Hawai‘i Police Department.
- Information about the K-9s of Hawai‘i Police Department.
- An “In Memoriam” page highlighting the Hawai‘i Police Department’s Police Memorial Wall and biographies of fallen officers.
The site makes it easy to learn how to get documents such as a police report or background check and request an active shooter presentation, police station tour or special duty officer.
Anyone interested in becoming a law enforcement officer can find detailed information about civilian and sworn posts, as well as see available jobs at Hawai‘i Police Department.
Teens and families can find resources for how to combat cyberbullying and sextortion. Scam prevention tips are posted for kūpuna.
The new website offers a wealth of data, safety tips and more for everyone, including business owners and even keiki.
Hawai‘i Police Department’s old website remains active as a media release archive only, featuring department media releases dating back to when that website launched in March of 1999.
Hawai‘i Police Department encourages everyone to spend a few minutes checking out its new website and looking at all the new — and many familiar — features it offers.
