Zonta Club of Hilo awards $15,400 in scholarships to women

“The Zonta Club of Hilo is thrilled to award over $15,000 in scholarships to eight women for 2024,” said outgoing Scholarship Chair Nina Buchanan.

The Women’s Nursing Degree Scholarship recipients from the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo are Amy Bye ($2,000), Amanda Gill ($2,000) and Miriam Martinez ($2,000).

The Women’s Nursing Degree Scholarship recipients from Hawai‘i Community College are Iliana Jose ($2,000), Ericka Paiva ($2,000) and Yuwei Wang ($2,000).

The Jane M. Klausman Women in Business Scholarship recipient is Tehya Thome ($1,200).

The Young Woman in Public Affairs Award recipient is Maiyah Panis-Vuong ($2,200).

Panis-Vuong and Thome, the winners in the Jane M. Klausman and Young Woman in Public Affairs categories, have been advanced from the club level to compete for additional awards and scholarships at the district and international levels of Zonta.
