Magnitude 4.1 quake shakes Ka‘ū District

There is no apparent impact to Mauna Loa or Kīlauea volcanoes following a 4.1 magnitude earthquake that rattled the Ka‘ū District this afternoon.
The tumbler occurred 9 miles east-southeast of Nāʻālehu at a depth of 23 miles below sea level at 1:43 p.m. The earthquake is part of a seismic swarm under the Pāhala area, which has been going on since 2019.

The USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory continues to monitor Hawaiian volcanoes for any changes.
