Hallelujah: You are the chorus during 14th annual Tom McAlexander Community Sing-Along
Experience the joy of singing — or just come listen — during the 14th annual Tom McAlexander Community Sing-Along featuring portions of Handel’s “Messiah.”
The sing-along event at 4 p.m. Dec. 23 at the Church of the Holy Cross, located at 440 W. Lanikāula St., adjacent to the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo, will be filled with uplifting music from the holiday classic, including the “Hallelujah” chorus.
You are the chorus, if you want to participate. Bring your own score or borrow one at the door.
There also will be two rehearsals prior to the sing-along, which are optional but recommended, especially if your Handel chops are a little rusty.
Rehearsals are scheduled for 10 to 11 a.m. for chorus members and 11 a.m. to noon for soloists Dec. 16 and 5 to 6 p.m. for chorus members and 6 to 7 p.m. for soloists Dec. 22 at the church.
The event will feature community soloists Greg Lupton, Ian McMillan, Lori DeMello, Teresa Mondoy, Bob Grove, Landon Scott, Melanie Oldfather, Rachel Edwards, Gerdine Marcus, Marlise Ahuna and others.
Doug Albertson will conduct and the sing-along will be accompanied by Walter Greenwood and Rick Mazurovsky.
It is free to attend and will be about an hour. Everyone is welcome.
