Participants sought for Hawaiʻi project to evaluate Kona, Kaʻu coffee labeling, production

Guild Consulting is seeking participants from diverse Kona and Kaʻu coffee stakeholders for a series of surveys, focus groups and interviews that will take place in mid-November.

The goal is to gather critical feedback on topics related to Kona and Kaʻu coffee, coffee labeling and the production of Kona and Kaʻu coffees.

Those interested in taking part are asked to provide their contact information via a two-minute online form to be considered for project participation and to sign up for periodic project updates.

Guild Consulting has retained Dr. Oral Capps, executive professor and regents professor in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Texas A&M University to serve as the project economist.

Also working on the project are Dr. Harold Goodwin, professor emeritus at the University of Arkansas and Loren Burns, a long-time research associate with Capps at Texas A&M.  

This project has been made possible via an act enacted by the State Legislature to support Hawaiʻi’s coffee growers by appropriating funds to the Hawai‘i Department of Agriculture to conduct an independent study to assess the economic impact of Hawaiʻi’s coffee labeling laws on local coffee farmers and the local coffee industry.
