The ban on outdoor burning and open flame activity for leeward districts of Hawai‘i Island has been lifted in time for Labor Day weekend.

Hawai‘i County Civil Defense Agency confirms camping at all county parks was reinstated.

Officials advise taking precautions if planning to do outdoor activities that involve an open flame, as fire dangers still exist for all areas of the Big Island. Have water or fire extinguishers on site to help prevent the spread of fire.
